CrestCan Club Leads Heartfelt Walk Honoring Ted DeWolf and Hillcrest’s 40th Anniversary
Hillcrest College, Mutare — September 14, 2025
In a moving tribute to legacy and service, the CrestCan Club at Hillcrest College organized a spirited commemorative walk on September 14th to mark the institution’s 40th anniversary. But beyond the milestone, the event carried a deeper purpose: to honor and support Ted DeWolf, a revered figure whose decades-long contribution to Hillcrest has shaped generations of students both academically and athletically.
Ted DeWolf, known for his unwavering dedication and excellence in coaching, has been instrumental in nurturing athletes who have gone on to represent Zimbabwe on international stages. His influence spans classrooms and sports fields alike, earning him the admiration of students, staff, and alumni.
The walk drew a vibrant crowd, including Tanya DeWolf, Ted’s daughter, and Sarah Shoesmith the Hillcrest Schools Principal, alongside representatives from Island Hospice and other distinguished guests. Their presence underscored the profound impact Ted has had on the Hillcrest community and the broader educational landscape.
The organiser of the CrestCan walk Barbra Kamuruko remarked, “This walk was not just about celebrating 40 years of Hillcrest—it was about walking for justice, gratitude, and the enduring spirit of one man who gave his all.” As Hillcrest looks ahead to the future, the legacy of Ted DeWolf remains a guiding light—proof that excellence, when paired with heart, leaves footprints that generations will follow.
